Privacy Policy
Last Updated: January 23, 2026
MHJ Apps ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Pust Focus mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App.
Summary
- •Your health data stays on your devices — we never receive it
- •No accounts required — the App works without accounts
- •Anonymous analytics — we collect usage patterns to improve the App (no personal data)
- •Privacy-first design — analytics data is anonymized and hosted in the EU
Information We Collect
Health Data (via Apple HealthKit)
The App accesses the following health data through Apple HealthKit:
| Data Type | Purpose | Storage |
|---|---|---|
| Heart Rate | Display during breathing sessions | Stays in HealthKit on your device |
| Mindfulness Minutes | Save completed breathing sessions | Written to HealthKit on your device |
Important: Health data is processed entirely on your device. We never receive, transmit, or store your health information on any servers.
Location Data
The App requests location access only when you start a walking breathing session:
- Purpose: Calculate distance walked during the session
- When Used: Only during active walking sessions
- Storage: Distance is saved locally; raw GPS data is not retained after the session ends
Location access is optional. The App works fully without it.
Settings and Preferences
Your app settings (breathing technique preferences, haptic intensity, daily goals, custom presets) are stored:
- Locally on your device using iOS/watchOS standard storage
- In iCloud (if signed in) to sync settings between your iPhone and Apple Watch
This uses Apple's iCloud Key-Value Store, which is encrypted and managed by Apple. We do not have access to your iCloud account or data.
Analytics Data
We use PostHog, a privacy-focused analytics service, to understand how people use the App. This helps us improve features and fix issues.
What We Collect
| Data Type | Examples | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Usage events | Session started, preset selected, feature used | Understand which features are valuable |
| App interactions | Button taps, navigation patterns | Improve user experience |
| Device info | iOS version, device type, app version | Ensure compatibility |
| Anonymous identifier | Random UUID (not linked to you personally) | Count unique users |
What We Do NOT Collect via Analytics
- No names, emails, or contact information
- No health data (heart rate, sessions) — this stays in HealthKit
- No location data
- No content of notes you write
- No Apple ID or personal identifiers
Session Replay
On iPhone, we use session replay to see how users interact with the App (like a screen recording). This helps us identify confusing UI or bugs.
- Text inputs are masked — your notes and personal text are hidden
- Preset names are visible — helps us understand breathing preferences
- Recordings are stored for 30 days then automatically deleted
- No audio is recorded
Data Storage
Analytics data is processed by PostHog and stored on servers in the European Union (Frankfurt) for GDPR compliance. Data is not sold or shared with advertisers.
Analytics in Debug Builds
Analytics is disabled in development/debug builds. Only release versions (App Store, TestFlight) send analytics data.
Information We Do NOT Collect
- No personal information (name, email, phone number)
- No account or login credentials
- No advertising identifiers
- No health data on our servers (stays in HealthKit)
- No location data on our servers
How Your Data is Protected
On-Device Processing
All health data processing happens locally on your iPhone or Apple Watch. Your breathing session data, heart rate, and mindfulness minutes never leave your device.
Apple's Security
Data synced via iCloud uses Apple's encryption and security infrastructure. We rely on Apple's security practices for protecting synced preferences.
Analytics Security
Anonymous usage analytics are transmitted securely (HTTPS) to PostHog's EU servers. This data cannot identify you personally and is used solely to improve the App.
Your Rights and Choices
HealthKit Data
You can revoke the App's access to HealthKit at any time:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone
- Go to Privacy & Security → Health → Pust Focus
- Toggle off any data types you wish to restrict
Location Data
You can revoke location access at any time:
- Open the Settings app
- Go to Privacy & Security → Location Services → Pust Focus
- Select Never to disable location access
Delete Your Data
To remove all App data:
- Delete the App from your iPhone and Apple Watch
- In the Health app, go to Browse → Mindfulness to view/delete saved sessions
- To clear iCloud-synced preferences, sign out of iCloud or delete the App from all devices
Analytics Data
Analytics data uses a random identifier that cannot be linked to you personally. Because this data is anonymous:
- There is no personal data to delete or export
- The data cannot be used to identify you
- Deleting the App generates a new random identifier if you reinstall
If you have questions about analytics data, contact us at [email protected].
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. The App contains no accounts, advertising, or social features. The App offers a one-time in-app purchase to unlock premium features; this purchase is processed entirely by Apple and we do not collect any payment information.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
